Dental Appliances to Protect Your Smile

Maintaining excellent oral health involves more than just brushing and flossing. For those of us who play sports or have developed habits like teeth grinding or clenching during sleep, dental appliances can help preserve and protect our oral structures.

At Laurelwood Family Dentistry, we provide appliances for snoring and sleep apnea, sports guards, and night guards. Each dental appliance is designed to fit your mouth seamlessly, providing both comfort and protection.

Your smile is important to us, and we want to help you protect it as much as possible. Talk to our dental team today to see if dental appliances may give you a better night's sleep or to request a custom-fitted sports guard ahead of your next game.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances

Sleep disorders disrupt your rest and limit oxygen flow to the brain, which can negatively affect your overall health and well-being.

In individuals who snore, relaxed throat tissues restrict the airway, producing the sound of snoring as oxygen is forced past. In patients with sleep apnea, overly relaxed throat tissues block the airway, forcing the brain to wake them up to breathe.

Our dental team provides custom-made oral appliances designed to open the airway by moving the lower jaw and tongue muscles. This helps improve your breathing and prevents you from waking during the night.

Sports Guards

A mouth guard will act as a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth in the event that you get hit in the face during a sports activity. This helps protect your smile from damage and may even prevent the need for emergency dental care.

Night Guards

If you grind your teeth while you sleep, a mouth guard will help protect your teeth from damage. Similarly, if you clench your jaw, a mouth guard will also help prevent you from doing so and help relieve any discomfort that you might be experiencing.
