Technologies at Our Dental Clinic
At Laurelwood Family Dentistry, our technology helps us diagnose and treat dental conditions by providing our team with detailed information about your oral health. Technology is vital when it comes to treatment planning, and it helps us keep dental appointments running smoothly.
Leveraging these technologies, we can treat dental issues precisely and accurately. Since they relay detailed information to our dental team quickly, there are minimal delays in starting treatment.
Chairside monitors in our treatment rooms allow us to show you your digital X-rays and scans to identify problem areas. We can also walk you through our treatment recommendations.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays use digital sensors to produce highly detailed images of your teeth, gums, and other oral structures. They allow your dentist to examine parts of your mouth that may be difficult to see with the naked eye and view the images on a monitor within minutes. Because they rely on digital sensors, these X-rays emit less radiation compared to traditional radiographs.
Dental Lasers
In dentistry, lasers (focused light beams) can be used in a variety of soft and hard tissue procedures. They allow our dentists to perform dental procedures with less pain and fewer medical interventions. At Laurelwood Family Dentistry, our dentists use lasers to remove overgrown or decayed tissue, reshape the gums, harden dental restorations quickly, or whiten teeth.
CEREC® Same-Day Restorations
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a system that allows for the fabrication and placement of dental restorations such as ceramic dental crowns, inlays, and onlays in a single appointment. There is no need for temporary restorations or multiple trips to our office.
Intraoral Scanners
Your dentist can take a digital image of the interior of your mouth to create a digital representation using an optical scanning wand. This device allows your dentist to capture accurate data to help better assess the hard and soft tissues of your mouth.
VELscope® Oral Cancer Screening
The VELscope is an oral cancer screening device that helps dentists identify abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualization technology, the VELscope screening can be performed in your dentist’s office during routine exams in about two minutes.
